“While we are blinded by carnal desires, the commands of God will appear rigorous; and we shall labour more to explain them away, than to obey them: but if once we adopt them as the rule of our conduct, their beauty and excellence will manifestly appear; and we shall be convinced that, to obey them is, to be truly happy?”
Simeon, C. (1832-63). Horae Homileticae Vol. 15: Romans (474). London.

Family,

Fireside

We stocked up on firewood this winter. $55 for 1/8th a chord of oak wood from the local wood yard.

We figured it would cost us $170 to buy the equivalent amount at the Albertsons grocery store. That’s quite a bit of savings. The wood is much harder to get lit because it’s really dense solid oak. However, once it get’s going, it lasts for quite a while.

Matthew loves the fire. He seems smart enough not to get too close, but we still never leave him alone in the living room when the fire is going.

Family,

Matthew the Pilot

Somehow we missed his pilot outfit sized for 3-6 months.

It’s a little tight on him and he’ll outgrow it sooner than we would like. He looks really cute in it. There are a few more new photos of him in the gallery.

Family,

Thankful Singing

Our Thanksgiving this year was complete with a concert performance.

We enjoyed a variety of songs from my cousins in 4-part harmony. They sometimes spend their spare time throughout the year getting together around the piano and singing. Most of the songs they sang were classic R&B tunes most people are familiar with.

Technology,

The Indian Razor

You upset about outsourcing to India? Then maybe you might think twice about how cool the Motorolla Razor is.

Outsourcing to India is great for India, but jobs in the U.S. are being sacrificed as a result. Motorola’s latest Razor cell phone hardware and software was deveoped in India. If you are interested in reading more, check the details at EDN Magazine.

News,

Target is Anti-Christian

Target bans Salvation Army bell ringers because they are labeled a “religious group” and Target doesn’t want to contribute to any religious group. On the other hand, Target does contribute to homosexuals. So although they may tote themselves as taking a neutral ground, really they are seeming to be biased against Christians and pro-homosexual, supporting liberal agendas. Many people think that Target is banning Salvation Army because Salvation Army doesn’t support homosexuals.
